The Underground Potters

Wanaka Arts Centre

Through mud it rises. Through water it emerges. Through sunlight it blossoms.

The Underground Potters are a collective initiated by Trudy Pilbrow. An enthusiastic group of independent potters who are excited to be working from within the Wanaka Arts Centre. They are not formally trained in ceramics but have been learning through mentor assistance, online information, trial and error and workshops taught by professional potters both within the region and elsewhere.

Once they are further established with all the necessary equipment they intend to co-ordinate weekly open nights for the community to come and practice the art and develop new skills. Various workshops will also be run out of the studio. Details to come at a later date.

The artists currently a part of the collective include Erica Clapp, Hilary Smith, Dorie Dusuatiez and Sarah Macnab.
